Coastal Modernism

This traditional southern shotgun style home was built to blend perfectly with the surrounding context of the Old East Hill neighborhood. Old East Hill is located near historic downtown Pensacola and the neighborhood association and the local Architectural Review Board take great pride in preserving the existing housing stock while ensuring that new construction is respectful of its context in both form and detail.

A steeply pitched metal roof provides a durable and traditional form. The 8 foot deep front porch creates an outdoor living room that connects the home to the neighborhood. The color and mood of our local beaches inspired a clean coastal aesthetic that employs sharp lines and warm wood tones.

This part of the neighborhood has been reactivated by a lot of energy and love. Existing housing stock has been restored and new construction has filled gaps in the urban fabric. The renovation of a nearby church into a boutique hotel and restaurant brought an exciting new destination within walking distance.
