Heart of the Home

The out-of-town homeowner purchased the home during the spring and needed the renovations to be completed prior to the beginning of their son's school year that fall. The tight schedule required an expedited design-build timeline and close coordination with subs and vendors, particularly for the custom cabinet package. The kitchen has always been the heart of their family home and the original floor plan separated the kitchen from the rest of the house.

The load bearing wall separating the kitchen from the living room was removed to create an open plan while deliberately maintaining just enough separation between the heavily used kitchen and the living room. A pantry closet was also removed to allow full height custom cabinets to connect the kitchen to an airy breakfast nook. An oversized peninsula counter provides additional seating for dining and working while the floor to ceiling cabinets provide ample storage for daily essentials and seasonal houseware. Other upgrades included beadboard ceilings and new lighting in the kitchen as well as new flooring throughout the ground level of the home.
